Health
You have 100 health. A few blocks hurt you: a Cactus and Thorn Roots prick, and the Magma Roots deep in new worlds burn. At 0 you faint, but you never lose anything.
How health works
- Health
- 100, full whenever you arrive in a world
- Refills
- 5 a second, starting 4 seconds after you were last hurt
- At 0
- You faint: you wake at the world's door (in LEGEND, at your last checkpoint) with full health, and keep everything you had
- After fainting
- Nothing can hurt you for 3 seconds
- Safe places
- The practice world and the NPC worlds never hurt
- Food
- Eat it to heal at once: Rootberry 10, Sap Apple 25, Emberfruit 50, Heartfruit 100. A food that only heals can't be eaten at full health.
The red bar under your level shows your health, only while you're hurt.
What hurts
Cactus
Its top and sides prick: 5 health a touch, at most twice a second, and you bounce off it.
Anyone can grow one from its seed and place it, so look out for them.
Thorn Roots
Its top and sides prick: 5 health a touch, at most twice a second, and you bounce off it.
They grow wild on the surface of Mossy Hollow worlds, and anyone can grow them from their seed.
Magma Root
You don't stand on Magma Roots: you sink into them and move at 60% of your speed. Hold jump to climb, and you leap out at the top.
Inside them you lose 20 health a second, and 10 more each time they pulse, every 2 seconds. From full health you faint in about 4 seconds, so a quick dip is fine.
They grow in the deepest rock of worlds made since 5 October, far below the door. Only a World Lock's owner can place them, and never within 5 tiles of the main door.
Cinder Boots, a rare find in the roots, halve the burn: 10 a second and 5 a pulse.
An Emberfruit or a Heartfruit stops the burn: for 10 secondsafter you eat one, the roots can't hurt you at all. Fainting ends it.
In a Root Vault they are 3 times as strong: a Cactus pricks for 15 and throws you up and back, and Magma Roots burn 60 a second and 30a pulse. Wings and jetpacks don't work there either.
Where every one of these comes from is on its page, and in Farming.
